"ROUNDTABLE RAMBLINGS"

TRAINING

"Hydee Ho all you Scouts and Scouters".  Summer's just around the corner and I'm starting to see a bunch of you guys riding bikes and in the water.  So I guess this months Roundtable topic is right on target.  We're going to be talking about Bike and Water Safety.  Topics covered will include the rules and regulations stated in the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting, ideas for running a safe water activity (Swimming and Boating) and how to get your Scouts geared up for a safe bike hike (long and short term).

I hope to have some great sites this month and may even be able to get some folks to talk about the extreme aspects of Bike and Water sports.  Roundtable is on Thursday May 12th at 7:00 PM (the second Thursday of each month) at the Castle Park Ward LDS church, 5900 Castle Drive.

Administrative

As always I will provide a set of handouts you can use for training, as well as a list of web sites, the PowerPoint Presentation and all supporting documentation. All materials referenced will be included in the handout.

All notes, presentations and handouts from each months training will be available for download from my computer, which I carry with me.

Data may be copied to either CD-ROM an External Data Drive (USB) or directly to another computer.  I also have the capability to copy to a Floppy Disk, but owing to the size of the files and programs, this will not be an option for extensive copying.

I have finalized the list of training topics for the next year, and will publish it, in the very near future, on the Capital District News website.  If you have a particular area of interest, and are interested in teaching the subject at an upcoming Roundtable, you may email me, a nd I will do my best to include you in an upcoming training session.  I can assure you, the subjects are broad, will be well presented, and will include sufficient information to allow you to incorporate it directly into your Troop program.

I look forward to meeting all of you and making this and all training useful and informative.
