New BSA Websites

Special Article on Internet Safety: We all use a lot of resources on the Internet and so do our volunteers. But are we safe? Take the Internet User Beginner Permit Exam and see how well you score. The test is really a tutorial on basic safe computing practices that you can share with friends.

Dedication: This website is dedicated to the thousands of dedicated Scouters who call themselves Commissioners and give of their time and talents to help Scout Leaders deliver the best possible Scouting Program to youth members and to the Scout leaders they serve.

It's A Tough Job: Being a commissioner is not an easy job and frequently a pretty misunderstood job. We all know about the stereotypes of a chubby, coffee mug clutching, badge-bedecked commissioner who doesn't seem to do very much. But is this really so? What does a commissioner really do? How can he/she do it better? Here you will find the answers to those questions along with many resources that are designed especially for commissioners, but can also be used by all Scouters. Learn more about resources available at The NetCommish Website

Ask Andy Commissioner Advice

Looking for an example of how a Commissioner can help? Here's a great example from a Council newsletter that is now also a regular feature of the NetCommish. It is a Commissioner's column called "Ask Andy" that gives Scouters great, helpful advice.

Andy writes "Got a question? Send it to me at mailto:AskAndyBSA@yahoo.com?subject=Ask Andy -be sure to let me know your Scouting position, town, state, and council!"

Want to reprint a column or part of a column in your Council newsletter?  Write to mailto:AskAndyBSA@yahoo.com?subject=Reprint.

We're always delighted to be honored: As the webmaster, I'm happy to see this site honored. But all of the real kudus go the the wonderful and great Scouting volunteers who have shared so much information here. Without them this site would be only a shadow of what it is now.

October Scouting Magazine CoverThe NetCommish was selected by Scouting Magazine as one of ten "Quality Scouting Web Sites." The article, entitled "Scoutmaster to Webmaster" appeared in the October, 1998 issue.  Scouting Magazine is an Official publication of the Boy Scouts of America. The latest issue can be found on the Scouting Magazine web site. Scouting Magazine is a must have publication and is included in the registration fee for registered leaders.  If you are a parent, contributor, educator, supporter, or just interested in Scouting, you can get your copy too.  Subscribe to Scouting Magazine.
